The Department of Information Technology at the Malang State Polytechnic (JTI Polinema), as an Official Certiport Testing Center (CATC), requires a customized Learning Management System (LMS) because its current platform does not fully support certification training and related operations. Conventional LMS payment systems rely on webhook notifications, making them prone to missed updates that result in delayed transactions and require manual reconciliation, which can disrupt the training registration process.
I built a web-based LMS featuring a Self-Healing mechanism and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC). This system is designed to automate payment verification and synchronize access, thereby enhancing the reliability and efficiency of the certification program management.
The system periodically queries bank APIs for pending orders, logging each inquiry and automatically updating the status when a payment is confirmed. To optimize reliability and cost, an exponential backoff strategy reduces unnecessary API calls while maintaining accurate payment synchronization.
The main challenge was designing a self-healing payment system that could reliably verify transactions without relying solely on webhooks. I implemented an automatic payment inquiry mechanism that queries bank APIs at regular intervals with exponential backoff to avoid rate limiting while ensuring timely updates. Additionally, integrating payment gateways and managing complex user roles in Filament required careful schema design and permission handling.
